When voices are forced silent, writing allows quiet revolution until voices are strong enough to scream.
How do you heal from trauma? Deep-seated trauma? How do you correct someone else’s wrong that bruised you?
Quiet revolution exists when, physically, the voice is too weak to speak. There’s never been a time when I didn’t fight back. I fought against abuse—domestic abuse, childhood abuse, and sexual abuse. I fought back with words. I retreated to a notepad, a blog, a book. Words became my armor. I fought hard. I stood strong and convicted. Brave and fearless.
Healing is not a linear path; it’s a journey marked by moments of clarity and setbacks. The act of writing became my sanctuary, a space where I could confront the shadows of my past without judgment. Each word I penned was a testament to my survival—a reminder that I was still alive, still capable of crafting my own narrative.
Forgiveness is often positioned as the ultimate goal, but sometimes it feels elusive. Instead, I focus on transformation. I transmute pain into poetry, sorrow into stories, and victories into Superheros. Each piece of writing serves as an alchemical process, turning darkness into light, chaos into clarity. By articulating my experiences and reimagining scenerios I reclaim agency over my life, slowly erasing the hold that past traumas once had on me.
In this quiet revolution, every story shared, every experience documented, empowers not just the writer but also those who read. It creates a collective strength—a community of survivors who stand together, amplifying each other’s voices. It is in these shared narratives that healing finds its roots, and the strength to scream eventually emerges.
So, I invite you to pick up your pen, to confront the silence with your own words. Let your quiet revolution begin. You are not alone; together, we can find our voices and wield them boldly, for the world deserves to hear our truths.
Our voices hold power, and they are just as powerful when they are silent as they are when they speak…
