Sweat dripping from the back of my neck. Clear streams running from my knees to my ankles. Aching thighs.
Tired and anguished, but refusing to stop. I run.
Thinking of my past. The hurt, the pain, the confusion. I run… (I gotta get it out)
Remembering the embarrassments, the mistakes, the ignorance, the naivety, .. I run… (I gotta get it out…I gotta get this off)
My right side pulsates pain, I run..I feel…I pound the ground in anger.
Frustration flies from my ears.. hurt drips from my wrists…heart aches drop from my chest; then… finally, tears…
Distant tears. Forgotten tears. Delicate tears. Child tears. Innocent tears. Beautiful tears. Salty tears…tears fall. Needed tears fall. Refreshing tears wash my face. Cleanse my lips.. A whispering wail follows. A sweltering mumble. Alone, and silent. Alert and awake.

I’m done fleeing. I’m done escaping. I run to love. Around the corner there’s an abundance, there’s a fulfilled dream, an answered hope, my completed goals, my finished aspirations…I run too, I run in, I run through it…
